Brahms 1

  • CARNEGIE STAGE at the South Pasadena Public Library Community Room 1115 El Centro Street South Pasadena, CA 91030 United States (map)

The NHSQ opens with the String Quartet no.3 in B flat Major, which Brahms composed in 1875 at the age of 42. Teng Li (Principal Violist of LA Phil) and Orion Weiss (Concert Pianist), will then be performing Viola Sonata No. 2 in E Flat Major one of the last chamber music pieces Brahms ever wrote, at the age of 61 in 1894. Orion Weiss then joins the NHSQ for what is often considered the crown of Brahm’s chamber music, the F minor Piano Quintet, composed at the age of 33.
